Yaobian meaning 'kiln transformation' and refers to a type of flambé glaze that changes colour during firing, creating unique patterns on pottery. Initially seen as unlucky and often destroyed, these glazes later gained appreciation for their natural beauty, resembling clouds or flowers. Popular during the Qianlong period, Yaobian pieces often featured striking copper blue streaks, making each creation a one-of-a-kind work of art.
These mugs are handmade and do have small imperfections which make them each unique.
